A veteran of the non-profit Internet strategy world, Melissa has spent the past several years at Free Range working with great clients like People for the American Way, Save The Children, Defenders of Wildlife, and Levi Strauss & Co, among many others. From her early years at a software company, where she learned how to "speak tech," to the increasingly complex and multifaceted projects she has overseen, she keeps her tech skills sharp by coordinating projects with a range of CMS and CRM solution providers. Formerly a Political Organizer at Common Cause, Melissa helped manage online campaigns and initiatives when the Internet was just beginning to dramatically change the nature and power of organizing. Currently based in California, Melissa hails from Massachusetts, and is an alumna of Hobart and William Smith Colleges in upstate New York. She gets riled up about campaign finance reform, human rights, and baseball, and spends too much free time playing on Twitter (@melissa_ann) and Facebook.

The conference, which was put on in conjunction with launch of a new journal, brought together dozens of top thinkers from a range of disciplines to figure out new ideas that could adapt liberalism to today's realities.
